EarthPatchers

Patching the Earth Together, One Stitch at a Time

Between work, school, laundry, and the everlasting question "where did I leave my keys?", searching for trusted planet missions shouldn’t be another task on the list.

EarthPatchers wants to gather them for you in one place. Creating your own Tribe (a team), starting your own mission, jumping into one started by others, or teaming up with one created by our trusted NGO partners is what we plan to start building first.

What would EarthPatchers stitch together

There’s no shortage of information about the planet.
There’s just a shortage of time, clarity, and simple ways to act on it.

The missions that truly help the planet are scattered like socks after laundry: everywhere, when what you really want is to have them neatly in one drawer, in the right place.
You find them across different websites, buried in long reports, floating through social media… exactly the kind of “hunt” you want to do when one hand is on the washing line, one is on the child, the dog is barking at the door, and your phone lights up with a work message: “You forgot to reply to the client!”… right?

EarthPatchers aims to gather them in one place so you can move straight to “let’s do this.”

Then you choose how:
  • At home: small, quick missions for busy days.
  • In a Tribe: build your own team or join one already started by people like you.
  • With NGOs: join a trusted NGO’s Tribe and help with their real missions.

No stress. No fuss.
Just practical action, shared effort, and the reminder that big things don’t get fixed alone.

What Will an EarthPatchers Mission Look Like?

A mission will be one practical action that helps nature, your neighborhood, or your community, and can be finished in real life. We plan missions to be clear, safe, and doable for different ages and schedules. A realistic rhythm could be one to three missions a month, when life allows.

Important!

For now, Patch Coins will just be tracked until the features that use them are ready.

Examples by mission size and age group:

Small Mission (10 Patch Coins)

  • Timp: aproximativ 1–20 de minute, fie o singură dată, fie repetat câteva zile, până când obiceiul devine o rutină.
  • Kids: water one local tree or plant and track it for a week.
  • Teens: run a one-week save water at home Tribe challenge.
  • Adults: check the fridge, find 2 things that need to be eaten today or tomorrow, and move them to the front.

Medium Mission (25 Patch Coins)

  • Time: about 45-60 minutes a week, usually done in one session.
  • Kids + family: park or riverbank clean-up.
  • Teens: take one no-car day and use bike, bus, or walking.
  • Adults: donate one item you no longer use (for example a pair of sunglasses, a book, or a jacket).

Big Mission (50 Patch Coins)

  • Time: about half a day to a full day, usually during the weekend.
  • Kids + school: build and maintain a pollinator corner in the school yard.
  • Teens: lead a neighborhood energy-saving mini campaign with measurable results.
  • Adults: coordinate a community day with clean-up, repair, and tree-care actions.

What Is a Tribe

A Tribe is a small team.
Not a crowd. Not a stadium. A handful of people saying, “Let’s do this together.”
The kind of team where you know who brings snacks and who always forgets socks.
Like a camp club, but for real life.

Tribes can be:

  • for kids and teens + leaders (kids use aliases and avatars, no visible faces, and their activity is visible only inside the Tribe)
  • adults-only (adults choose how public their involvement is)

Tribe leaders will need a validated account. They will help with moderation, keep things safe and clean, and can earn more Patch Coins for this extra responsibility.

How Will It Work

Important!

To begin with, we will test missions offline while the website functionality is still under construction.

Step Adult Journey Parent Journey Child Journey
Join
  • Adult creates an account and sets own visibility permissions.
  • Parent creates family account + linked child account(s). Sets child safety permissions.
  • Child account(s) are linked to parent account. Parent permissions define what child or children can see and do.
Join a Tribe
  • Adult selects missions based on size and skills, and can belong to one or more Tribes.
  • Parent chooses trusted Tribe leaders (teacher, scout leader, or parent leader). The leader sends a safe invite to connect child account(s).
  • Child or children join only after parent approval through the safe invite, can belong to one or more Tribes, and see only Tribe-shared content.
Join and Complete the Mission
  • Joins the Tribe that created the chosen mission and completes it.
  • Parent supports child or children participation where needed. In-person missions may require a minimum number of parents, based on age and mission type.
  • Child or children join and complete a mission with the Tribe.
Validation + Coins
  • Patch Coins are earned after validation.
  • Leader validates. Child or children earn 10 Patch Coins.
  • If parent also participates and is validated: parent earns 10 Patch Coins.
  • Leader validates. Child or children earn 10 Patch Coins.
Explore + Quiz
  • Explores Earth's Side of the Story and can earn extra Patch Coins from the quiz.
  • Parent can also explore Earth's Side of the Story to understand local needs. Content is age-tailored. Quiz can add extra Patch Coins.
  • Child or children explore age-tailored Earth's Side of the Story and can earn extra Patch Coins from the quiz.
Use Coins
  • Uses Patch Coins in Market Hut for practical reusable items (jackets, books, tools, board games, household items).
  • In partners view: Patch Coins can also unlock games in the Games Room.
  • Parent helps child or children use Patch Coins in Market Hut safely (toys, jackets, books, school supplies, board games, reusable household items).
  • In partners view: Patch Coins can also unlock games in the Games Room.
  • Child or children can use earned Patch Coins in Market Hut with parent permissions and guidance.
  • In partners view: Patch Coins can also unlock games in the Games Room.

Starting in Cluj

EarthPatchers plans to start in Cluj and grow carefully. New cities would open later only when there is enough discovery support (data + partners), so the information stays real and trustworthy.

Partnerships

EarthPatchers is designed to work alongside schools and NGOs, not replace them. We plan to build local partnerships and collaboration goals as missions scale.

If you want to start missions or get involved as a teacher, parent, scout leader, NGO, or partner, find more details in Ways to Get Involved.

Missions HQ
Base Camp

Missions HQ

Missions HQ is where EarthPatchers begins. It’s a library of real-life missions for kids, teens, and adults, designed to make “saving the Earth” feel doable. Missions come in sizes that fit busy life: • Tiny missions (10–20 minutes) • Weekend missions (1–2 hours) • Team missions (families, schools, clubs, Tribes) Adults can filter missions by time, topic, and skills (repairing, organising, teaching, gardening, design, photography), so helping can match what people are actually good at.

Rewards stay simple:

Patch Coins: you earn them through missions and learning, and use them in Market Hut (and later in Games Room).

Badges: they are about who you are becoming (brave, kind, curious).

Achievements: the things you did, like stickers in your adventure notebook.

Why It Matters

Missions turn climate anxiety into doable action. They give families and young people a clear starting point: one mission at a time, building real change step by step.

Tribes
Base Camp

Tribes

A Tribe is EarthPatchers’ word for a small team (like a club). Tribes can be: • Kids/Teens Tribes (aliases + avatars, no visible kids’ faces, kid activity visible only in the Tribe) • Adults-only Tribes (adults choose their visibility) Missions can be shared across Tribes so great missions spread without exposing children’s accounts. Tribe “camp rules” keep things kind and clean: • Be kind • Keep private details private • No visible kids’ faces • Don’t post littering (and don’t encourage it) • Use a Littering report when something shouldn’t be there

Why It Matters

Sustainability isn’t just about tasks — it’s about belonging. Tribes turn the platform into a community where people support each other, act together, and keep things safe and kind.

Coming Later

  • More Tribe types: schools, neighbourhoods, NGOs, and interest-based Tribes.
  • Better mission sharing through Mission Shelf search and favourites.
  • Optional area-based Tribe challenges (monthly or seasonal, not overwhelming).
  • Cleaner moderation tools and clearer littering reports.
  • Optional adult-only community events and learning circles.
  • Roles:
    1. MasterPatchers (Mentors, Campaigners)
    2. NewsPatcher (Reporters)
    3. AppPatchers (Developers, QAs)
    4. CraftPatchers (Craft makers - Market Hut)
Market Hut
Base Camp

Market Hut

The Market Hut is a Cluj-first circular exchange where people reuse items instead of buying new. Patch Coins make it work without awkward item-for-item matching: you earn coins by helping, then use coins to choose items. Safety guidance is built into the flow. Adults choose their visibility, but children’s faces are never allowed.

Why It Matters

Circular habits are one of the fastest ways to reduce waste. Patch Coins make reuse simple and fair — no awkward item-for-item matching, just kindness and coins.

Coming Later

  • Optional polite bidding using Patch Coins for high-demand items (simple and kid-safe).
  • Borrowing shelves (tools, books, sports gear, kids gear).
  • Better trust signals (verified users and mission-verified trading privileges).
  • Safer meetup and pickup guidance with clearer rules.
Earth's Side of the Story
Base Camp

Earth's Side of the Story

Earth’s Side of the Story is the learning-and-action world that starts in Cluj and connects learning to missions. It has three doors: 1) My Hazards • Explains hazards in a friendly way: - natural hazards - natural hazards made worse by pollution/changes people cause - hazards caused directly by people • Short learning cards and quizzes earn Patch Coins. 2) Contamination & Recovery Zone (Cluj map) Adults (and older teens where appropriate) can add a pin (photo + short note) for: • littering hot spots • damaged areas / broken things • trees cut where they shouldn’t be • places needing care Pins can become missions (or requests for missions). Later, this map can include verified helper pins: • Helpers (NGOs, researchers, community groups) • Missions (ways to help) • Reports (things needing attention) 3) Learn & Play Short learning paths and quizzes that connect back to missions and Patch Coins.

Why It Matters

Understanding "why" is the bridge between action and lasting change. This module makes learning accessible, emotionally safe, and directly connected to real missions.

Coming Later

  • Tribe alerts: new pins can gently alert nearby Tribes so local teams can choose to help.
  • New cities/countries open slowly via a Discovery Phase (data + partners + priority missions). If discovery isn't supported, the area stays "sleeping" until the community helps find data sources or partners.
  • Community help for discovery (finding data sources and mapping local helpers).
  • Verified helper pins (NGOs, scientists, community groups) and mission pins.
  • Better learning paths (age-appropriate, including adult paths).
Games Room
Future Module

Games Room

The Games Room starts by embedding trusted nature-learning games so EarthPatchers can offer play-based learning quickly. Patch Coins unlock games (simple rule: coins open doors). Adults can play too and earn Patch Coins.

Why It Matters

Play is how children learn best. Starting with trusted games means learning happens fast, and Patch Coins keep engagement connected to real effort.

Coming Later

  • EarthPatchers-made games, and eventually Patcher Camp.
Activity Hut
Future Module

Activity Hut

The Activity Hut is a personal home base that feels like an adventure journal. It shows: • your adventure trail (missions and milestones) • Patch Coins now (spendable) and Patch Coins earned (lifetime effort) • badges and achievements • role path (like Leader, or MasterPatcher as we call it) Adults choose what to share publicly; kids stay within Tribe visibility rules.

Why It Matters

Your adventure journal is where effort becomes visible. Badges show who you're becoming, achievements show what you've done, and your Patch Coins total shows your lifetime impact.

Coming Later

  • Safe kid-friendly AI can create a child's Hero Story: a bedtime-story retelling of verified adventures, using alias + avatar only.
Eco Shops Directory
Future Module

Eco Shops Directory

Eco Shops is a Cluj-first guide to sustainable products and local shops with ratings and comments to keep things honest. Quality rules reduce spam: • You can review or add products after earning enough Patch Coins and completing a verified mission. • New products are submitted via a template (photo, where to buy, materials, why it’s better, what to watch out for). • Leaders, also called MasterPatchers, verify entries before they go live.

Why It Matters

Finding truly sustainable products is hard. This directory keeps things honest with community reviews, verified missions, and Leader oversight (MasterPatcher role).

The Green Wall
Future Module

Green Wall

The Green Wall is an idea garden where people post ideas, vote, and form teams based on skills. Ideas can be: • local community projects (repair clubs, refill stations) • next steps for EarthPatchers itself (new features, new modules, expansion ideas) Helper Page explanation: The Helper Page is found inside the Activity Hut. It’s the part of your profile that can show what you learned and how you helped (optional sharing, adult-controlled).

Why It Matters

Good ideas need more than enthusiasm — they need skills, teamwork, and sometimes funding. The Green Wall turns community energy into real projects.

Organisations & Scientists
Future Module

Organisations & Scientists

Verified organisations and researchers appear as special Helper pins within the Contamination & Recovery Zone in Earth’s Side of the Story. Pin types can include: • Helpers (NGOs, researchers, community groups) • Missions (ways to help) • Reports (things needing attention) This helps people discover real helper teams, learn what they do in clear language, and join missions.

Why It Matters

Seeing who helps — and how to join them — turns a map of problems into a map of hope. Verified helper pins connect community action to real expertise.

New Cities & Discovery Phase
Future Module

New Cities & Discovery Phase

EarthPatchers expands slowly and honestly. Each new city starts with a Discovery Phase: • find reliable data sources • find local helpers and partners • identify priority missions If discovery isn’t supported yet, the new city stays “sleeping” until the community helps find data sources or partners.

Why It Matters

Scaling should be honest and community-driven. No half-built chapters — each city opens properly with real data, real partners, and real priority missions.

Patcher Camp
Future Module

Patcher Camp

Patcher Camp is a future flagship teamwork game. Kids work together through Earth zones using “powers” that are real knowledge: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind. It teaches practical skills, problem-solving, and brave teamwork. It comes after the Games Room foundation is working.

Why It Matters

Games make learning irresistible. Patcher Camp connects play to real-world action, helping young people see their knowledge as superpowers for the planet.

Who We Are

Our Mission

We don't believe the planet needs panic. We believe it needs people who know what they can do today. That's why we offer clear missions, a safe community, and simple reuse solutions. With superheroes but without all the drama. Just small steps, taken together.

Our Vision

A world where doing good for the planet is as normal as brushing your teeth: simple habits, local support, and young people growing up with the skills and confidence to protect their future.

Over time, EarthPatchers can expand city-by-city into a network of communities that take measurable local action, learn why it matters in an age-appropriate way, and make it easier for everyone to reuse, repair, and waste less.

Why EarthPatchers

Because for 13 years, it was “that brilliant idea someone should build.”

We’ve shared it with over 1,000 people. It collected feedback. It grew. And the reaction was almost always the same:

“Wow. This should exist.”

And then… silence.

Not because it didn’t matter. But because it felt too big. Too complex. Too “let’s solve everything now.”

Developers are busy. But so are teachers, parents, entrepreneurs, and students.

Most of us live from one near step to the next: what I do tomorrow, this month, this quarter. We rarely have mental space for “what we do in 10 years.”

Not from indifference. From reality.

EarthPatchers was born from this exact question: How do we help busy people quickly do something valuable — without searching for needles in haystacks?

So we changed the big question: not “How do we build everything?”, but “Where do we start?”

Today, with the help of AI and a lot of perseverance, we start small. Clear. Concrete.

We don’t promise to save the planet in a weekend.

We promise a simpler path from “we should” to “let’s do it.”

Together.

Our Values

Sustainability

Real action over awareness campaigns. Small steps that add up to lasting change.

Community

Local support, shared missions, and the power of acting together.

Transparency

Clear budgets. Public plans. Donations explained.
You know what you support. You know where it goes.

Child Safety

Privacy-by-design, age-appropriate content, and guardian involvement at every step.

Where We Start

We will work through partnerships with schools and NGOs, pilot programs in Cluj, and community voting to decide what happens next. Everything will start small, be tested, and grow based on real feedback.
